Highly ordered pure and indium-incorporated MCM-41 mesoporous adsorbents: synthesis, characterization and evaluation for dye removal

Abstract Highly ordered pure MCM-41 and In-MCM-41 mesoporous adsorbents (with Si/In = 95 (IM0.05) 90 (IM0.1)) were synthesized using the hydrothermal-assisted method. The structural, morphological texture characteristics investigated by XRD, N 2 adsorption–desorption, SEM-EDX, TEM, diffuse reflectance (DR) FTIR. broadening XRD diffraction peaks as well shifts to higher lower 2-theta in IM0.05 IM0.1, respectively, confirmed incorporation of indium atoms structure. SEM-EXD TEM images showed that preserve a highly long-range well-ordered hexagonal pore structure, on other hand, high loading (IM0.1) resulted partially irregular pore-ordering defects related partial dissolution infrared spectra In-incorporated samples decrease transmittance intensity characteristic with little relative sample. potential for adsorption dyes was preliminarily investigated. removal efficiency both methylene blue basic yellow-28 (BY28) enhanced MCM-41. equilibrium data BY28 dye pure, IM0.1 fitted Langmuir model capacity 123.46, 156.99 158.48 mg g −1 respectively. calculated free energy obtained from D–R isotherm found be 26.7 kJ mol referring adsorbent is chemical. kinetic sample followed pseudo-second-order model. experiments revealed prepared can used effective aqueous solutions good recovery recyclability.
